CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways Day 12: Oliva Cigar Company

It’s the Sunday before Christmas and I’m up early picking a winner and posting yet another day of contests after a late night out at a friend’s in NJ.  Running this contest is a blast for me, but sheesh, I’m glad it’s almost done! Sometime’s I think that it will never end!  The winner of Day 11’s box of CAO Concert Stage Cigars along with hats and t-shirts is czerbe!  Please send me your contact info so I can ship these goodies off to you (or work out a time to meet up for a smoke since you’re not far from me)!

It’s Day 12, and to recap real quick, we’ve given away boxes and boxes of cigars! I’ve always tried to make Day 12 special, and I think you’ll agree that today’s presents are quite special!  Oliva Cigar Company has provided us with a box of Oliva Serie V No. 4, which is the corona size in the delicious Serie V line.  As if that wasn’t special enough, we also have a box of (10) Oliva Serie V Maduro Especiale which is a very limited and very hard to find torpedo.  As I said, day 12 is special!

Thanks to my good friend Mike Staiber and everyone at Oliva for these outstanding boxes of cigars!  This might be your last chance to win something in this year’s series of contests, so leave a comment to enter and check back tomorrow for the winner!

Until tomorrow,

CigarCraig

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways Day 11: CAO Cigars

Wow.  Yesterday was a record breaking day at CigarCraig.com.  Not only did we hit that magical 100 comments as DocNJ foresaw  but we’ve never had so many page views since the launch of the site in 2009!  Thank you to everyone who visited and entered! Stay tuned, because this wasn’t necessarily the pinnacle! On another note, I usually am depressed about the beginning of winter, but this year I celebrated the shortest day of the year. That means the days will be getting longer from here on out which I like! Oh, you wanted to know who the winner was?  I’m droning on about stupid stuff while there’s a gift to be given!  We have a lucky winner of a whole bunch of goodies from our friends at Drew Estate!  abraxas828282, please send your address.  Do you have a loading dock, or will I need a truck with a lift gate?  Only kidding about that, but it will be a good sized package! Congrats!

Day 11 and I am beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel (and the bottom of the contest humidor!) How exciting it’s been, and it just keeps getting better!  Today we are featuring the newest offering from CAO, a box of the Concert Stage, the 5½ x 60 size in the line. Also, since I saw Ricky Rodriquez a few weeks ago, he hooked me up with a couple hats and t-shirts to go along with the cigars!  I really enjoy the cigars myself (not these, the box is still sealed!), they have a nice Ecuador Habano Rosado wrapper over a broadleaf binder that combines for a nice flavor.  This gift is a box of 24 cigars, two t-shirts (a L and an XL) and two hats.

Thanks to Victoria at General Cigar Co. and Ricky at CAO and all the fine folks involved!  There you have it!  Leave a comment, tell your friends and check back tomorrow to see who won!

Until tomorrow,

CigarCraig

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways Day 3: Monte Pascoal Cigars

The first three days have started with technical difficulties that threatened to drive me insane!  If you are seeing this, then I guess everything is back to normal.  It seems that I ran out of room in my database, bad timing, eh? I threw money at the problems and got it fixed, so we are back in business! By the way, I’ve seen a couple entries that looks like they may be duplicates (same IP address, different name).  Let’s keep it to one entry per person please?  Anyway, the winner of the box of Foundry Wells cigars on Day 2 of CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways  is chekk12. Congrats! Send me your info so I can ship this box along to you!

Day 3 features 11 delicious Monte Pascoal cigars courtesy of Wes Genzel of Tabacos Mata Fina USA, LLC.   Wes is making his second appearance in as many years (I know, this is only the second year…), and I always enjoy seeing him at the annual trade show.  He’s a super nice guy and the Monte Pascoal cigars are super nice as well.  The winner of today’s contest will receive 11 cigars, there’s a 5 pack of Robustos, a 5 pack of Minutos and a Belicoso.  I’ve personally smoked all of these sizes and they are all excellent!  I really like the 5 pack packaging that is new this year as well, very handy!

You know the drill, leave a comment for a chance to win and check back tomorrow to see if you won and see what tomorrow’s prize will be!

Until tomorrow,

CigarCraig

Rules

Here’s how you enter: leave a comment.  That’s it, plain and simple.  Tweets don’t count, but feel free to spread the word, only comments on this page count as an entry.  Each day there will be a different prize and the winner will be drawn from that day’s comments. The winner will be announced on the next day’s post. The contest is open to everyone, even if you’ve won one of my contests in the past six months, but once you’ve won, you are ineligible to win again in this series of contests. All prizes will be mailed as soon as I get a chance to go to the post office, or whenever the sponsor decides to ship, whichever is the case, so don’t make me chase down your address!  Please e-mail your contact information to 12days@cigarcraig.com as soon as possible!

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways Day 2: Foundry from General Cigar Co.

Yesterday’s response was outstanding! Thanks for all of your comments and support. Please remember to visit the sponsor’s sites, they went out of their way to provide goodies for us. The winner of the Stogieboys.com prize pack on day 1 of CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways is The Commish! Congrats and e-mail me with your details!

Today we are featuring what I think is one of the most unique and interesting cigars to come out in quite a while.  Here is some background info:

FOUNDRY is a stark juxtaposition between the old and the new. This visually-arresting collection was inspired by the art form of “steampunk,” which is both a retrospective and futuristic interpretation of innovation.

Visual considerations aside, FOUNDRY’s avant-garde approach extends to its masterfully balanced synthesis of flavors. Featuring an indulgent collection of five proprietary tobaccos from four different countries, each aged between three and six years, Foundry’s foundation is amplified through an eight year old wrapper developed by General Cigar. Called H-47 Pleno Sol, the lustrous wrapper imparts a deeply complex, layered smoking experience like no other.

The four-cigar collection is accessibly-priced, and will make its mark on tobacco retail starting in late-October. Foundry features these new cigars: Wells (6”x 50, SRP per cigar is $7.95); Lovelace (6 ¼ ” x 54, SRP per cigar is $8.45); Talbot (5” x 60, SRP per cigar is $8.95) and Cayley (6 ½” x 60 x 56 x 43, SRP per cigar is $9.45). Each frontmark is presented with a unique box design and features both a traditional paper band and a steampunk-inspired metal gear band.

I happen to find this cigar really delicious, considering that none of the four countries that are mentioned above are Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Honduras or Mexico.  I found myself enthralled with the different flavors. For what it’s worth, this will probably make into my top cigars of 2012. Today’s prize is a box of the Wells size, a 6″ x 50 Toro. Thanks to Victoria and Michael and everyone at General Cigar Co. for providing this awesome box of cigars.

You know what to do: leave a comment for a chance to win.  If you are The Commish you aren’t eligible to win this time, but make sure you send me your address so I can ship your prize!

Until tomorrow,

CigarCraig

A Xikar Executive Lighter and A Little of This and a Little of That

When we left off on Sunday, I had a cold coming on, and it came on in full force that day, but the worst of it passed quickly.  I still didn’t really feel like smoking too many cigars, so I’m left with not a lot to talk about today.  So I figured it would be a good enough time to showcase a piece of equipment I’ve been using lately, a red Xikar Executive lighter.

I won this lighter at an event at the Wooden Indian a few months ago and have used it pretty regularly with generally good results.  The single jet flame is more than adequate to light and touch up a cigar, it has plenty of horsepower and even works OK in a light breeze.  It seems to run through fuel pretty quickly, but many jet flame lighters do, but I find myself filling this one more than other lighters.  I’m going to guess that this is an old model, it looks like the Executive II has replaced it and has a fuel window, which is a welcome improvement.  Another little thing I’ve noticed is that it’s finish is already starting to chip, and I’ve been VERY careful with this lighter.  I make sure to put it in it’s own pocket in my pants, and don’t throw it in the drawer with other things.  It’s still gotten a couple chips, but the important thing is that it works well to light a cigar. If I have occasion to need a fancy lighter, I’ll just pull out the gold Dupont….I can’t even finish the sentence…I don’t have a gold Dupont lighter….wouldn’t know what to do with one if I did!  I bet they don’t do any better job of lighting a cigar.  As an aside, a few years back I was in Vegas and stopped into the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop of Pawn Stars fame, and they had a Punch Dupont lighter.  It had a $3000 price tag on it, but they would have let me have it for $2500.  For that kind of money it better have MY name on it!  Anyway, I like the Xikar lighter, it’s been reliable and easier to put in my pocket than my other favorite lighter (see my post about that lighter).  This review was not solicited by Xikar, I won this as an event attendee, I bought some cigars and got a raffle ticket!

Speaking of Punch, head on over to http://www.punchcigars.com/tailgating/ and sign up to win a cool six-pack of Punch cigars. They are giving one away every day until December 28, 2012.  I saw these at the IPCPR show and it is a really neat presentation. It comes with an assortment of Punch cigars, a cutter and a bottle opener.  It’s a very cool piece, go try to win one or pick one up if you see it in your local shop!

On a sad note, we lost one of our feline family members last night.  Frank was a good companion for the last 16 years and was never too far from my lap whether I was on the porch enjoying a cigar, or on the couch watching TV.  He even made a few cameo appearances in my CAO Last Stick Standing video.  He was pretty straight laced, when the other cats were rolling around in the catnip, he would have nothing to do with it.  But he did seem to like sitting on my lap while I smoked.  He had a good, long life and we will miss him.

That’s it for today, until the next time,

CigarCraig
