CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2013 Day 8: La Palina Cigars

Good morning and welcome to Day 8.  Before I announce the Day 7 winner, let me address a few items.  First, Jason O asked in a comment if my daughter was named after the La Aurora brand, and the answer is no.  She predates may cigar fascination by a few years, however that first box purchase was definitely influenced by the name. The box may be around somewhere and  she may have it. <sarcasm>Second, kudos to Cigar Aficionado for naming a cigar that has been in manufacture for almost 80 years as the cigar of the year<\sarcasm>. Shouldn’t consistency be a criteria? Or availability? Sheesh. Anyway, you want to to know who won the La Aurora 107 Maduro Coronas, and that person is Jeff K! Please send me your address so I can pass it on to Señor Stein. Thanks to Miami Cigar and Co. and La Aurora for everything! Let’s get Thursday rolling!

Day 8

Today’s present comes to us courtesy of La Palina Cigars.  La Palina is owned by Bill Paley, and is the resurrection of his grandfather’s brand. Bill’s father, incidentally, is the founder of Columbia Broadcasting System.  The point is, Bill has some roots in the cigar business, and is making some darned tasty cigars. The winner of today’s present will receive a box of La Palina Classic Gordo.  The Gordo is a 6″ x 60 featuring a Brazilian Habano wrapper, Ecuador binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers.  These are always welcome in my humidors.

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2013 Day 7: La Aurora Cigars

Mike,Mike,Mike,Mike,Mike …..what day is it? (sorry, Mike, you didn’t win this time) It’s Wednesday, Day 7 of CigarCraig’s 12 Days of Spectacular Giveaways, that’s what day it is! No cartons of Camels in the stocking today folks!  Yesterday we had a really nice bunch of stuff from the combined generosity of Flor de Gonzalez Cigars and Kings Cigars. The winner, Adrian Quick,  is going to be very well dressed and equipped, as well as having some really nice cigars in his humidor. Congrats to Adrian, please send your address so I can ship these goodies to you. Thanks very much to Yadi at FdG and Marlene at Kings for putting this together and sharing the day! And now on with the show!

Day 7

Today’s present comes from La Aurora. I’ve had an affinity for this brand as long as I’ve been smoking cigars since my daughter’s name is Aurora.  My first box of cigars back in the mid ’90s was a box of La Aurora Bristol Especiales.  I think it was $39.95!  Times have changed. One lucky reader will win this box of La Aurora 107 Maduro Coronas. The 107 Maduro is the same blend as the 107 that was released a few years ago only with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.  These were originally exclusive to Tobacco Association of America shops, but should be in wider distribution now.  All I know is that there’s a box up for grabs today! I can’t wait to try these, I keep hunting for them. They sure look delicious!

Thanks to Barry Stein at Miami Cigar and Company for providing this fine gift, and for his support over the years.  The comments section is now open, you know what to do!

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2013 Day 6: Two-fer Tuesday! Flor de Gonzales and Kings Cigars

I can’t believe this thing’s almost half way over!  The response continues to be enormous.  I was looking at some numbers and this week alone will come close to the total number of visits I had the first year I was online with CigarCraig.com.  Amazing and humbling, thank you all for visiting, that’s one of the reasons I run this annual giveaway. For those interested, chekk12 did come through with his address and his Atabey sampler will be shipping his way today. Today I need John Hateley To kindly send me his address, as he is the winner of the Tortuga and Ora Vivo sampler from Victor Vitale at Legacy Brands! I smoked an Ora Vivo last night and these, along with the Tortuga 215 Reserva, are really very special cigars. I encourage you to give them a try!  On to today’s giveaway!

Day 6

I try to do one thing a little different every year, so this year I’ve decided to have a “Two-fer Tuesday”!  There’s a mess of stuff under the tree today!  First, from Flor de Gonzales we have a five-pack of their cigars, a T-shirt and a pen. I’ve long been a fan of the Flor de Gonzales line, and there’s one from each line represented here. The 90 Miles 1980 is particularly exceptional, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. They are all very flavorful and perfectly constructed cigars. Even their bundle line (not represented here) is a great cigar for around $2. My thanks to Yadi Vargas for providing this fine present.

FlordeGonzales

Our second gift comes from Kings Cigars.  We met the Kings folks at the IPCPR show last July and they were the life of the party.  Their cigars are darned good too.  In today’s gift bag is a couple Kings Cigars T-shirts, some hats, long matches, a nice stainless steel cutter, and a five pack sampler of their excellent cigars. I’ve smoked the King of Kings and the Conde and enjoyed them greatly! These guys are new to the market, but their cigars are three years in the making and they are doing it right. Thanks to Anwar, Pete and Marlene at Kings cigars for sending this gift bag!

Kings Cigars

There you have it.  A bunch of T-shirts, goodies and excellent cigars!  Thanks again to Flor de Gonzales and Kings Cigars for making Two-fer Tuesday possible! You know the next step, load up the comments!

Once again a nice turnout for the chance to win a box of Leccia Black Petite Rothschilds and a Leccia Tobacco t-shirt worn by Sam himself! (just kidding!). Thanks again to Sam and Jack Toraño for this spectacular present!  JScott is going to be out of his mind excited to have won! Joel is a long time reader, and I might have his address around here somewhere but please send it anyway so I make sure I have it right! Maybe share one with your buddy Commish if you want! Also, Saturday’s winner has yet to e-mail, chekk12 please send your address! Of course, the bad news for both of you is that you aren’t eligible to win again until Jan 1 when I reset everything.  You won, quit your whining :-).  On with something very special for Day 5!

It’s Day 5 already and things are moving along nicely!  Today we have more cigars of exceptional quality from Victor Vitale of Legacy Brands.  Victor launched his new Tortuga 215 line at this years IPCPR trade show. It’s very exclusive as it’s on;y available at appointed merchants (BestCigarPrices.com happens to be one of them).  These are made from high priming Nicaraguan tobaccos and are really, really good smokes.  There’s a Four-pack of the Tortuga 215 Reserva Robustos along with a two cigar sampler containing another Tortuga 215 Reserva and an Ora Vivo Armand Assante Robusto, which is the second cigar line in the Legacy Brands stable. the Ora Vivo is a very tasty cigar as well. You may have read about it here in the last several months.

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2013 Day 4: Leccia Tobacco

We had another great turnout yesterday, and the cigars were, once again, spectacular!  Part of the fun of doing this is putting new and interesting cigars in peoples hands that may not have had the opportunity to try them otherwise.  The  Atabey is such a limited and exclusive cigar (and expensive!) that not many people will have access to them. Big thanks again to David Garofalo at 2 Guys Smokeshop for providing the winner, chekk12,  the chance to sample these! Congrats to the lucky winner!  Send your address so we can get these beauties to you. Today’s another day, and another contest!  Check it out:

One of the highlights of this year was the return of Sam Leccia to the cigar industry.  The IPCPR show was abuzz, it was next to impossible to get an interview with him, but I did, and we enjoyed spending a few minutes with him and his lovely wife in his end of the Toraño booth.  He made a splash with two unique cigars, the Leccia White, and today’s present, the Leccia Black. In addition to a Leccia Tobacco t-shirt, we have a box of Leccia Black Petite Rothschild. This box of 21 4″ x 48 cigars feature the “Dark Fire” Kentucky tobacco which gives these a distinctive smokey flavor.  These are really good (as are the White!).  Sam knocked it out of the park with these debut cigars, some lucky reader will have a box in their humidor soon!
