News: Mombacho Cigars Announces Shipment of Cosecha 2013

There’s a secondary piece of good news here, and that’s that product is getting out of Nicaragua.  I smoked the Cosecha 2012 last year in the desert of Las Vegas at Mombacho’s media party and it was really good, although the environment was less than ideal. I have a lot of good memories from that event, meeting the Mombacho team, seeing old media friends and spending some time with the late Gary Laden among them.  I still can’t remember if I like the Mombacho Liga Maestro or Tierra Volcan, one I didn’t care for and one I loved.  Anyway, take a read about the new Cosecha 2013:

MOMBACHO CIGARS ANNOUNCES WORLDWIDE SHIPMENT OF COSECHA 2013

After a seven-week delay, Cosecha 2013, a yearly limited edition release from Mombacho Cigars, has shipped to the United States, Canada and Europe.

Mombacho Cigars S.A. announced today that the highly anticipated Cosecha 2013 has shipped to the United States.  Cosecha 2013 is a vintage Nicaraguan puro and will be available at select cigar retailers in the near future.  The shipment of this special cigar was delayed nearly two months due to the turmoil currently engulfing the country of Nicaragua. The cigars will be distributed to retailers around the world once they reach the US.

“Cosecha is a project that has been in my heart since the day I started working with Mombacho,” said Claudio Sgroi, President and Master Blender of Mombacho Cigars. “True vintage is hard to find in the cigar industry and we have created a cigar that showcases the best of Nicaraguan tobaccos with Cosecha.  Cosecha 2012 was great and Cosecha 2013 may be even better.”

Cosecha 2013

The Spanish word “Cosecha” translates to “harvest” in English and is the perfect name to convey the genuine vintage nature of the Cosecha line. The Cosecha 2013 is the second release of this limited vintage line and features Nicaraguan tobaccos harvested in 2013. The cigars have been in the aging room at Casa Favilli, Mombacho’s factory in Granada, since 2014. Currently, Cosecha 2014 and 2015 have already been rolled and are resting in the aging room at Casa Favilli until ready for distribution.

Cosecha 2013 is a 6 x 52 toro with a pigtail cap and is available in 10-count boxes with an MSRP of $21.95 per cigar.  A total of 800 boxes were produced.  The entire production of Cosecha 2013 sold out due to the quick growth in demand from cigars smokers around the world.

“The Cosecha line has become our most highly anticipated and sought after cigar,” said Robert Rasmussen, Brand Manager of Mombacho Cigars. “Cosecha 2012 was a huge hit for us and I’m expecting Cosecha 2013 to be even bigger.”

The current unrest in Nicaragua has caused many delays in the cigar industry and the release of Cosecha 2013 was no exception.  “The situation in Nicaragua has put many of us behind. Things are getting better and we are working hard to keep our team safe and get back to a normal schedule,” said Sgroi.
