Welcome back for yet another day of cigar giveaways! I hope you aren’t tired of this yet! There’s a ton more to come. I would like to have smoked an Arandoza Blue Label yesterday, but I’m out, and my plan to run to the one of the only stores that have them 9 miles away fell through as I got the lights up on the house and then my daughter and he kids came over. Another time, I suppose. I have some bad news for Lloyd Ladrillono, he’s no longer eligible to win anything in the 12SDoCG because he winner of the box of Arandoza Blue Label cigars! Please confirm your address so I can try to get these shipped out to you next weekend! Thank you to Robert Arango at Arandoza Cigars for providing yesterday’s gift!
Joya de Nicaragua
The present for Day 5 is from Joya de Nicaragua, the oldest cigar factory in Nicaragua. This year they came out with the Joya Red, a medium bodied cigar that’s loaded with flavor. I’ve had the pleasure of smokeing quite a few of these since last June, and they are really quite good. Today’s present is a box of 20 Joya Red Cañonazo (5½ x 54). Juan Martinez, the President of Joya de Nicaragua, was the mastermind behind asking for consumer feedback in this contest. He would like to know two things: in one sentence tell us what comes to mind when you think of Joya de Nicaragua and what comes to mind when you think of Nicaraguan Tobacco. Let’s see what you can come up with! Thank you to Juan at Joya de Nicaragua and John Brook at Drew Estate (the US distributor of JdN) for making today’s present possible!
Rules
All you have to do to enter is to leave a comment on that day’s post and if you like, in one sentence tell us what comes to mind when you think of Joya de Nicaragua and what comes to mind when you think of Nicaraguan Tobacco. It’s not a condition to win, but I’d like for the folks who make this all possible to come away with some consumer feedback. Also, be sure to visit the links for each item. Comments on Facebook, Twitter, or anywhere else will not count, but feel free to spread the word!
Until tomorrow,
CigarCraig
I hear wonderful things about Joya.
A great smoke, I would love to have this!
First thing to come to mind is that a lot of great blends have come out from Joya and as far as Nicaragua tobacco it seems to be the go to now. Thanks
I have yet to try Joya Red! I hear they are milder than the rest of the JDN line.
If it is as goos as other Joyas it should be. Many great cigars made with Nicaraguan tobacco.
I Love the JDN line
Joya Noel. Got this from the big smoke ny 2 weeks ago. Very nice.
Oh this is a good cigar! My flavor profile favors Nicaraguan tobacco and this cigar was a pleasant surprise when I first tried it.
Nicaraguan Tobacco – smooth. Would love to win a box!
when i think of JdN , i typically think of dark corojo antanos , my 1st thoughts of Nicaragua is Estelli
I have tried Joya. What comes to mind is quality made cigar with lots of flavor and Nicaraguan tobacco is top notch. Thanks for the contest.
Excellent cigar, so far I haven’t found anything I have tried from JdN that has not been fantastic. Exceptional quality inside and out!
would love to try these!
Never burned one so I can’t really comment on them. I love Nicaragua tobacco, the rich earth flavor pops to mind first.
Great medium smoke mafe from flavorful and complex tobacco.
I love the company and many of there other lines, would love to try these!
love joya de nicaragua!
never smoked this one yet…
looking forward to
When I think about JDN, I think about longevity and integrity. When I think about NT, I think about the wonderful spicy retro hale. NT is my favorite!
Red and green… Christmas colors!!! 🙂
Haven’t had a chance to try these yet, but other JDN’s that I’ve tried have been very good.
Joya de Nicaragua has some great and enjoyable blends. Nicaraguan blends are always a part of my regular rotation.
When I think of JdN, I think of my favorite hat (replaced twice now after being eaten by my dog). When I think of Nicaraguan Tobacco, I can’t think, my mouth just waters uncontrollably.
Classic and spicy goodness!
Pre game stick Chiefs Rams game. Beautiful day.
I have not smoked this specific Cigar, but I love every JDN that I have smoked. Awesome cigars!
a GOOD no-nonsense brand, and GOOD smokes, always.
Oldest manufacturer in Nicaragua. This JOYA Red is a great smoke, as are most of the other lines they make.
I Joya A Merry Christmas!
Joya makes some great cigars.
Good smoke.
Joya to the world!! Smoke em if you got em!
Joya is one of my favorite go-to cigars. Haven’t tried the red but I doubt is be disappointed
nice cigar..
Nicaraguan tobacco is in almost every cigar in my regular rotation. Joya de Nicaragua – a blast from the past, but what does the future hold in store…?
When I think of Joya de Nicaragua, I think of the JdN Clasico. This was before the release of the JdN Antano. The local smoke shop didn’t have many premium choices–mostly close-outs and bundled cigars. A friend and I took a chance on the Clasico, and were impressed: a mild cigar that was still rich and flavorful.
It’s been years since I’ve had the Clasico, but the Antano is a mainstay in my humidor.
Joya….I think of blending cigars on the covered patio behind the factory….and the smell of Esteli ligero leaves wafting in the breeze….while smoking an Antano and sipping some Flor de Cana!
what i think of when it comes to Jdn is how they made me never want to smoke a Jdn again when the first Antano i smoked made me very, very, sick and then they wooed me back with the Celebracion. i actually don’t think of much when i think of Nicaraguan tobacco, since most of my opinions on cigars are tied to brands.
I can’t wait till I try the Joya Red. I’ve enjoyed the rest of their line, but sometimes you want something lighter. Thanks Craig!
Interesting smoke. Kinda of a departure for Joya. Good luck, all. Ty Craig as always for the fantastic contest.
When I think of Joya de Nicaragua I think of my local Cigar/Pipe Club. They introduced me to JdN after telling them I liked full flavored cigars. So when I think of Nicaraguan tobacco I think of a dark, rich, and flavorful smoking experience.
Have had may JdN but not the Red yet. Looks good, like the red box.
Seasons Greetings!! It seems that lately I have been smoking a lot more cigars made with Nicaraguan tobacco
I love JDN’s and would love to try their new “Red”!
I think of strong, dark blends when I think of JdN but with the addition of the Red,, they have entered a new and delicious era using some of the sweet, fruity Nicaraguan tobaccos available. The Red is in my top ten for 2014, an anytime/anywhere cigar. I have only smoked about 5 because they are unavailable here, so, I’d love to win a box of these and spread the word at some local B&M”s. Thanks JdN and thanks Craig.
I’m a bit surprised that I haven’t had Joya de Nicragua yet. Goes to show that I need to continue to expand my horizons.
When I think of Nicaragua, I think . . . intense.
Congrats to all the winners so for. Im looking forward to this giveaway day. JdN is one of my favorite cigars. The CYB is a go to and the Antano 1970 is one of my absolute favorites and one that I pass on to people who want to try something a little more full bodied. The Reds are a new favorite for me and go great with a cup of coffee.
Thanks Craig. Always good stuff. I still need to try this cigar myself.
Joya, one of my favorite brands!
Congrats to Lloyd! As a fan of Joya de Nicaragua I believe the Red is another strong release! Great cigar! Joyais a great line!
Joya de Nicaragua – Smooth with good flavors. Nicaragua tobaccos produce some of the best blends/flavors!!
Learn new stuff every day. I’ve seen Joya on CI before but passed them up because I didn’t know any better. I will try them.
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of JDN, is some of the creamiest cigars on the planet. And Nicaragua would have to be the Cuba of the free world . As in the very best cigars come from Nicaragua.
Love Nicaraguan tobacco. The Joya Red surprised me, solid cigar.
To me, JdN is known for their full bodied, full strength smokes. Great after a hearty meal.
I think of Bill Williams who is always smoking JDN. I think of Nicaragua as the best cigars I’ve had.
Another great selection for the giveaway!
I really enjoyed the Maduro I had, not sure which stick. Smooth and good amounts of smoke. Thanks for the contest.
Always a solid stick! Great smoke for a great price.
JDN makes some great cigars! The Joya Red is a nice medium bodied cigar that I could smoke any time.
I have not tried these yet but the 1970 is a solid smoke.
I haven’t tried the red but love the original
Love Joya, I’ve always enjoyed their cigars.
Joya is an affordable company with the great strong Flavors I enjoy in a Nicaraguan tobacco.
Really enjoyed the Joya Red – always a fan of the JdN blends.
congrats Lloyd!! thewse are awesome!
Thanks for doing these give aways
There’re only two countries in the world where you can make cigars entirely from their tobacco,Cuba and Nicaragua. I have yet to have a Joya Red, I have entered their contest before and the last few times I wanted one, my local Tobacco locker lounge has been sold out. Maybe this will be the way I finally get to try one.
Great cigars
I really enjoy the Joya Red. Got to pick some up when they first came out. Thanks.
When I think of Joya de Nicaragua I think of excellent taste and quality. Nicaraguan tobacco has risen to a level rivaling any Cuban leaf!
When I think of JdN I think of creamy full flavor! I also think Nicaraguan tobacco is the best available!
I’ve never had em I’d like to try em. Good luck y’all
When I think of JDN I immediately think of the amazing spice bomb that is the JDN dark antano. With that being said I love the nicaraguan tobacco, I have slowly been turning into a nicaraguan fanboy!
I’ve tried just about every joya out there, enjoyed the CyB medium bodied offering this sounds like it’s right up my ally
When I think of JdN, my mind goes to the Antano 1970, which is probably my favorite cigar; I love those things.
Nicaraguan Tobacco to me means “Spicy” and “Full-bodied”. Not always “Strong”, just chock full of deep flavor.
Would LOVE to try these. [crosses fingers]
Joya de Nicaragua is one of the first premium cigars I smoked in the 70’s and nicaraguan tobacco is yummy goodness!!!!!
Thanks, Craig, and to Arandoza Cigars for this great prize! Craig, I’ve sent my address to you via email. Merry Christmas to everyone and good luck with the remainder of the 12SDoCG!
Gotta love that bright red JOYA box.
When I think of Joya de Nicaragua, I think of the Antano, which is hands-down the most flavorful cigar that is in my humidor. It is unique in its flavor profile. I’m not going to say that it tastes like coffee or cocoa or nuts or whatever. I will say that it is distinctive. Even blindfolded, I believe I could identify a JdN Antano, just from lighting it up. Nothing that I’ve found is like it. I only wish that the one vitola (Machito) that has a small ring gauge AND short length was available in a size other than a 50 count box.
As far as Nicaraguan tobacco is concerned, I went through my humidor and found that fully 90% of the cigars there consist of predominantly Nicaraguan tobacco. Since I’m not able to obtain Cuban leaf, I prefer Nicaraguan leaf to any of the others when it comes to the main body of a cigar. Besides, Cuban leaf is not the be-all and end-all of tobacco. So much good tobacco is coming out of Nicaragua that Cuba no longer has a monopoly on good cigar tobacco. I do like it when tobacco from other countries is blended with Nicaraguan, but as far as a good, solid base leaf for filler, nothing beats Nicaraguan tobacco.
Sr. Martinez, I hope my comments are helpful to you.
Thanks for doing this contest, very generous.
I don’t have a lot of opinions about JdN, as I haven’t had a lot of their cigars; maybe two, and that was back when I didn’t quite pay as much attention.
When we talk about Nicaraguan cigars, I think **full**. Typically full flavored and a lot of times full bodied.
Never tried a JDN but Nicaraguan cigars are my choice stick.
I def love the nicaraguan sticks!
I’ve never had a JDN, but I like Nicaraguan cigars since I prefer a more full flavored/full bodied cigar.
Interesting, would love to sample one of those, oldest factory Nicaragua, , huh
congrats Lloyd!! love these thanks craig!
Thank you! If Craig says they’re good, I tend to believe him! Good luck to you the rest of the way!
not yet had the opportunity to try any Joya De Nicaragua, but I am a fan of the quality and variety of flavors to be found in Nicaraguan tobacco. I like to think of the connection to the earth the people must have as it reminds me to enjoy every moment.
Have never tried the Joya brand, but based on some of the comments I really want to.
They look tasty
Certainly smoked my share of Nicaraguan Tobacco, but never Joya de Nicaragua. Heard some decent reviews on them so might have to try it. A freebie would certainly help that happen. 🙂
When I think of J de N, I think of quality and fair price. When I think of N tobacco, I think of earthy, deep flavor.
JDN makes great cigars!
I say Joya to the world ! As for Joya de Nicaragua, when I win I will let you know! I guess I am not that experienced because I never had a Joya, but heard many good things about them As for ” what comes to mind when you think of Nicaraguan Tobacco”, I think of medium to full bodied, great spicey cigars. I’m sure that is an over-simplification, but I say ‘who needs Cuba’ when there is Nicaraguan tobacco.
JDN and whiskey on ice are the perfect end to a busy week. As with most Nicaraguan tobacco, I find it smooth and silky with just enough pepper to stir the senses and enhance the experience.
Feet up, glass of scotch, and chilling out in the sunshine. That’s what comes to my mind anyway.
I think of Cigar Safari when I think of JDN. I think of the new Cuba when I think of Nicaraguan tobacco.
Way to go Lloyd! Thanks again Craig! I have not smoked a lot of Joya cigars, but I do love the Nicaraguans!
JDN Dark corojo is delicious
Good times always come to mind with Hoya cigars.
Have not yet had the Red. Always a fan of the JdN.
I’m new to cigars and I’m doing my best to try all different kinds of cigars! Would love to learn more about Nicaraguan tobacco!
